Villa du Soleil

Even our most discriminating clients will agree that Villa du Soleil provides an extraordinary combination of charm, elegance and appointments worthy of a four-star accommodation.  Set on a quiet private lot, surrounded by olive trees and with views to the stunning Alpilles mountain range, this recently constructed villa has been architecturally designed to provide both traditional Provençal ambiance and modern comforts and conveniences, including a geothermically heated swimming pool, wireless internet and air conditioning.

Guests enter the property from a private drive lined with olive trees and blooming hedges.  The house, with 270 square meters (approximately 2,900 square feet) of living area, faces to the south, with views across the swimming pool and front terrace to the Alpilles, and is filled year-round with sunlight.  To the left of the welcoming entry hall lies the spacious salon, with its contemporary fireplace, satellite LCD televison and entertainment center; on the opposite side of the entry, with views of the pool area and mountains through the expansive windows and French doors, lies the open dining area, with seating for ten, and the incredible kitchen, fitted with professional quality appliances, including a stainless steel refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, four-burner range and convection oven, granite countertops and a full compliment of cookware, dishes and glassware.  It is immediately evident that this tastefully appointed home was designed and furnished by a restauranteur who loves to cook and entertain and his stylish artist/decorator wife!  A large butler’s pantry adjacent to the kitchen houses a washing machine, tumble dryer and an impressive collection of small appliances.  Even the most novice cook will find culinary inspiration in this beautiful kitchen!  A large powder room, with washbasin and toilet, is conveniently located adjacent to the living areas.

There are two bedrooms on the main level of the villa.  The master, furnished with a king-sized bed, has a beautiful ensuite bathroom, fitted with a glass-enclosed shower, bathtub, washbasin and toilet.  The second bedroom on this level, featuring a queen bed and ensuite shower room, has a separate access from the terrace, and is wheelchair-accessible. 

On the upper level, there are three sunny bedrooms, each with an ensuite bath/shower room.  Two of the bedrooms are furnished with queen beds; the third features two twins.  The furnishings throughout are tasteful and elegant, while at the same time colorful and comfortable.  Mattresses and linens in each of the bedrooms are of the highest quality, and the bathrooms are at the same time stylish and functional, with above-counter washbasins, contemporary tile accents and gleaming fixtures. With wide windows let in the warm Provençal sunlight and the beautiful views over the olive groves to the Alpilles, every room in the villa is airy and bright. The air conditioning system is separately zoned in each bedroom to enable each guest to control cooling to his or her personal comfort level.

The large rectangular swimming pool (with 15 meters in length, its perfect for swimming laps) is geothermically heated to extend the swimming season from May through October, and is protected by an electronically-controlled retractable cover.  Quality teak lawn chairs line the pool; there is also a teak dining table and chairs and BBQ in the enclosed poolhouse, and a ping-pong table.  With three terraces for enjoying the sun, and a lighting system illuminating the landscape at night, the exterior living at Villa du Soleil is as inviting as the inside is welcoming!

The delightful village of Eygalières, named one of France’s most beautiful, has become our favorite in the Bouches du Rhône.  Friday is market day in Eygalières, where visitors and residents alike gather to buy local produce, cheeses and crafts.  The village also offers a nice selection of shops, restaurants (including a Michelin two-star), cafés, galleries and services, as well as photogenic views of the ancient château and the historic route du Jean Moulin which honors the famous World War II hero of the Resistance.  The larger, and very famous, village of St. Rémy-de-Provence is just 12 km from Eygaliéres, and historic Avignon is a few kilometers further to the north. The golf courses, wineries, restaurants and sights of Les Baux, Maussane-les-Alpilles, Arles and Aix-en-Provence are all within a 15-30 minute drive, and with the A-7 autoroute just ten minutes from the house, Villa du Soleil is well-situated for touring all of the Bouches du Rhône and Vaucluse tourist destinations.  This is an incredible house, in an incredible location…with all the luxury appointments of a four-star hotel, and all the comforts of a traditional Provençal home.
