Mas d'Olivier

Originally constructed in the 19th century, Mas d’Oliver is an authentic Provençal mas or farmhouse, that has been lovingly restored and renovated to create a beautiful and fully appointed vacation rental home that offers guests the best of Provençal charm and modern conveniences.

Nestled at the foot of the stunning Alpilles mountain range, this traditional mas is surrounded by more than two hectaires (approximately five acres) of producing olive trees, lavender bushes and blooming flowers, and provides the ultimate in privacy and tranquility, while still conveniently located just 5 km from the delightful village of Eygalières and just 6 km from the bustling market town of Cavaillon.

The mas is located at the end of a private road which winds among olive trees and vineyards.  The front of the house faces south, with unobstructed views to the rugged Alpilles mountain range, with an expansive terrace, shaded by a traditional Provençal pergola, extending the length of themas.  Upon entering the house through the tiled entry hall, guests will find the spacious salon, with its traditional beamed ceilings, large stone fireplace and comfortable seating area.  The salon is equipped with a television, DVD/stereo entertainment center, and wireless internet system.  Adjacent to the salon, also on the entry level, lies the dining area, with seating for eight.

Up a few steps from the salon lies a small game room with foosball table; there is also a ping-pong table for guests’ enjoyment.  A large shower/utility room, with shower, toilet, and washbasin, also houses a washing machine and a large refrigerator/freezer.  Also on this level, the large country kitchen opens boasts large windows overlooking the mountains.  The kitchen is fitted with an American-style refrigerator, four burner gas range and oven, dishwasher, tiled countertops and a full compliment of small appliances, as well as a small dining table and chairs, perfect for enjoying petit dejeuner or a casual snack before heading out to the pool area beyond the house.  A gas BBQ is housed in a small alcove adjacent to the mid-level of themas.

The bedrooms, each of which is air-conditioned, are located a few steps above the kitchen level.  The first bedroom is furnished with two twins; the second bedroom has two twins as well, which can be combined to create a king-sized bed.  Both have views over the gardens to the pool and off to the village of Eygalières a few kilometers from the mas.  A bathroom, equipped with a tub (with a traditional French hand-held shower), washbasin and toilet is adjacent to the bedrooms on the upper level; there is also a separate toilet room.  A third bedroom, fitted with a queen bed, has views over the olive trees and grounds to the back of the house.  The “master” bedroom, also located on the upper level yet a bit separated from the other three chambres, is furnished with a French king bed, and has a beautiful ensuite bathroom with a tiled shower, Jacuzzi tub, and washbasin.  Each bedroom is also furnished with fluffy bathrobes.

While well-designed for groups of couples, Mas d’Olivier is completely suited for children; a baby crib, high chair and children’s toys are available for guests’ use, and the most narrow stairway landings are discretely cordoned off for the safety of our youngest clients.

Daily light housekeeping and pool and garden service is included in the rental price.

Mas d’Olivier is conveniently located between the A-7 autoroute (approximately 5 km)and the delightful village of Eygalières, one of Provence’s plus beaux villages (most beautiful villages).  The nearby village of Orgon, with its lovely lake, was once a stronghold of the Knights of Templar, and now hosts a lively weekly market.  Eygalières is home to a Michelin-starred restaurant, several charming cafés and restaurants, and a nice selection of shops, galleries and services; a broader selection of dining and shopping is available in St. Rémy-de-Provence, just 15 km from the mas

The Lubéron Valley, with its vineyards and perched villages, begins just across the autoroute; history-rich Avignon, Orange and Vaison la Romaine are all under an hour from the house as well.  This is a fabulous location for exploring all that the Bouches du Rhône and Vaucluse departements have to offer!
