Maison Eygaliéres

Maison Eygaliéres is a beautifully decorated and well-appointed private vacation rental within a few hundred meters from the village of Eygaliéres, one of the most sought-after locales in Provence.

Guests enter the property through a graceful gated driveway, lined with blooming lavender bushes and shaded by olive and pine trees, and with views towards the Alpilles. Though only a 15 minute walk to the center of the village, the property is extremely private and serene, with more than 4,000 square meters of private grounds.

The living areas, all on one level, are spacious and beautifully decorated in neutral tones accented by splashes of color. The furnishings are a mix of comfortable contemporary pieces, local country antiques, and tasteful artwork. In the main salon, which opens through large glass French doors to the terrace and pool beyond and with views towards the rugged Alpilles, a comfortable seating group faces the wood-burning fireplace, with its traditional stone mantle. An entertainment center, with television (as yet, not satellite), DVD player and music system, is discretely located in one corner of the room.

The interior dining area is adjacent to the salon, and provides comfortable seating for six guests. Again, large French doors let in the Provençal breezes and sunlight, with views towards the mountains.

The tiled kitchen is modern and fully equipped, with a four-burner stove (three gas and one electric), microwave, oven and dishwasher, as well as a full compliment of small appliances and cookware. An enclosed pantry adjacent to the kitchen houses a full-sized refrigerator/freezer and washing machine. A guest bathroom, with toilet and washbasin, is located just off the main living area between the entry and the kitchen.

There are three bedrooms at the home; one fitted with two twin beds (which can be combined or left separate), one with full-sized bunk beds, and one with an oversized queen. A bathroom, with washbasin, bathtub (and wall-mounted showerhead) and a traditional French bidet, is located adjacent to the two smaller bedrooms, while the master bedroom features an ensuite shower, toilet and washbasin. The master bedroom and twin bedroom both open onto the terrace leading to the pool area. The comfortable sofa in the salon converts to a sleeper bed, if two guests choose not to share a bedroom; the house can comfortably accommodate up to six guests.

A shaded terrace overlooking the large (10 meters by five meters) swimming pool (fitted with an alarm sensor) is fitted with a comfortable dining table, with seating for six. With the efficient electric BBQ grill tucked into an alcove adjacent to the dining terrace, guests will enjoy dining al fresco while enjoying the views and tranquility of the home's well-designed outdoor living areas. An exterior shower is also located adjacent to the pool area.

The beautiful village of Eygaliéres, with its charming cafés (we once spent an entire afternoon on the terrace of our favorite, which overlooks the village place, where the weekly open-air market takes place year-round, people-watching and enjoying a bottle of the locally produced Côtes des Baux rosé), a Michelin-starred "white tablecloth" restaurant as well as several less recognized, though equally worthy, fine dining spots, and charming shops and boutiques is within a few minutes walk from the house. You will find a selection of boulangeries, charcuteries and small grocers, a wonderful florist, and other shops and services in the village.

Nearby, the "route du Jean Moulin," celebrating the heroics of the famous World War II resistance leader, winds through the meadows and hills meandering through this beautiful region.

Eygaliéres, at the base of the Alpilles, is less than a kilometer from Maison Eygaliéres; the justifiably famous village of St. Rémy-de-Provence, with its ancient Roman ruins, chic boutiques and fascinating art galleries, is within a 15 minute drive from the house. There is also easy access to the autoroute (again, within a 15 minute drive), making the property conveniently located for touring all of the sites of the Bouches du Rhône and Vaucluse region, or for making day trips to the Mediterranean beaches of the northern Var.

THIS PROPERTY RENTS ON A SATURDAY TO SATURDAY BASIS, UNLESSOTHERWISE AGREED TO BY THE OWNER.
