Les Sablas

Les Sablas was one of the first properties included in the Provence West portfolio, and has been a popular choice year after year with clients seeking a truly authentic country French experience in a wonderful location in the Haut Vaucluse.

This simply, yet charmingly, decorated two story farmhouse is set on a large private lot, surrounded by rosemary bushes, garrigue and lavender, and with expansive views towards the delightful market village of Bédoin and to the incomparable Mont Ventoux.

On the main level, a "great room" offers comfortable seating areas flanking the wood-burning fireplace with its traditional stone mantle, and an inviting dining area furnished with a country table and seating for six. The décor is classic Provençal, with brightly colored fabrics, wood and cane chairs, and a tasteful mix of local antiques and contemporary furnishings.

Glass French doors open from the living areas to the south facing terrace, which offers outdoor dining areas shaded by a vine-covered pergola and overlooking the large (30' x 16') private pool. Note that the pool is bordered by rosemary hedges and is equipped with an alarm system, but is not fenced, making the house unsuitable for guests with small children.

The recently updated kitchen is adjacent to the living areas, and is fitted with an oven, range, refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher and microwave. The house is also equipped with a washing machine.

There are three good-sized bedrooms at Les Sablas, all on the upper level. Each bedroom is furnished with two twin beds which can be combined to create king beds or left separate. There are two bathrooms, one with a bathtub and shower, and one with a shower, both decorated with charming tile accents. In all, the house comfortably accommodates up to six guests.

The lively village of Bédoin, which has frequently hosted the Tour de France when the racers take on the challenge of ascending nearby Mont Ventoux, is also home to one of the best weekly markets in Provence, and offers a selection of restaurants, shops and services. The larger town of Carpentras, with a broad assortment of dining, shopping and entertainment choices, is just 11 miles to the south of Bédoin.

The location is perfect for touring the many vineyards and wine estates of the Côtes du Ventoux, as well as the Châteauneuf du Papes region, the lavender fields of Sault, and the beautiful Gorges de la Nesque. The "sights and sites" of the Lubéron Valley are within an easy drive of Bédoin, and those of the Bouches du Rhône are likewise within easy reach.
