La Porte Jaune

Decorated with a tasteful palette of neutral backgrounds accented with rich jewel tones, La Porte Jaune is at once extremely comfortable and very stylish, seamlessly blending eclectic modern and antique furnishings and accessories.    The owners, a talented architect and his visionary decorator wife, know exactly how to create a rental property which provides the practical comforts of a private home in the context of a fully-appointed property with vacation amenities.

On the ground level, the open living, dining and kitchen areas feature traditional Provençal architectural elements, including tiled floors, dense plastered walls and exposed ceiling beams.  The salon is centered by a woodburning fireplace topped by a carved stone mantle; a comfortable sofa and upholstered armchairs create a cozy seating area. The owners have not forgotten modern conveniences:  La Porte Jaune is also furnished with satellite television, a DVD player and CD music system, and internet access.

In the sunny kitchen, pretty tile accents, wood cabinetry and exposed wood ceiling beams provide the Provençal ambiance; a full suite of quality appliances, including a four-burner electric range, oven, dishwasher, stainless-steel refrigerator/freezer and microwave, provide the modern conveniences.  The house is also equipped with a washing machine.  A county dining table, with seating for eight, is also located in the large kitchen, adjacent to the salon and with access to the gardens, terrace and private swimming pool.

There is a bedroom with queen bed on the ground level, as well as an ensuite shower room with washbasin.   The furnishings are again a blend of quality modern pieces and tasteful accents.  There is also an independent toilet room on the main level.

Expansive French doors open from the living areas to the beautiful gardens, lawn areas and large private pool, with views to vineyards and hills to the east.  There is a large outdoor dining table on the terrace, lounge chairs and an umbrella for shade, and a BBQ grill.

On the upper level there are three additional bedrooms; two with two twin beds (in one bedroom, the twins can be combined to create a king-sized bed) and one with a double bed.  There are skylights in two of the bedrooms, providing additional light.  As throughout, the furnishings are a charming mix of antiques, modern pieces and traditional accents.  A shower room with washbasin, a bathroom with tub (and a hand-held shower, which can be affixed to the wall for guests used to standing while showering) and washbasin, and a second independent toilet room are located on the upper level.

L’Hameau de la Fontaine is located just 500 meters from the charming village of Goult (our personal favorite in the Lubéron), home to a lively café and bar, a few restaurants (including one truly extraordinary restaurant that has become our “standard” for special evenings out), a newsstand with English-language publications, and a few basic shops.  There are public tennis courts available for guest’s use within the town limits, and parking within the hamlet.

The famous "perched" villages of the Lubéron...Gordes, Menerbes, Rousillon, Venasque, among others...are within a half-hour's drive from the property.

Isle sur la Sorgue, with its celebrated Sunday market and charming shops and restaurants, is only a few miles away.

Tastings at several Côtes-du-Ventoux vineyards in Goult and neighboring wineries and chateaux are also nearby.

The incredible Abbey de Sénanque, famous for its historic monastery and fragrant lavender fields, is within 15 minutes away.

Historic St-Rémy-de-Provence, Arles, Les Baux de Provence and Vaison la Romaine are all within a day trip's distance.

Exercise enthusiasts will find numerous walking, hiking and cycling opportunities throughout the Lubéron plateau and in the Dentelles du Montmirail and Mont Ventoux region.

THIS PROPERTY RENTS ON A SATURDAY TO SATURDAY BASIS DURING MID AND HIGH SEASON. AS WITH MOST OF OUR PROPERTIES, SMOKING IS NOT PERMITTED WITHIN THE HOUSE, AND PETS ARE NOT ALLOWED.
