Le Sacre Coeur (P18th3)

The Montmartre district, in the 18th arrondissement, is one of Paris' most lively and most eclectic...as famous for the Moulin Rouge nightclub as it is for the incomparable Sacré Coeur basilica, and home as well to a dizzying array of shops, galleries, restaurants, tattoo parlors and upscale homes. Often called Paris' last "village" within the city, Montmartre offers travelers with a sense of adventure more spacious accommodations at a better value than in many of the more tourist-oriented destinations, as well as a unique experience not offered by any other arrondissement in Paris.

Le Sacré Coeur is a delightful apartment, perched on the eighth floor (with elevator access) of an early 1900's building located at the foot of the Butte Montmartre (the steep hill where the basilica is located) and adjacent to the fascinating fabric and notions district. With approximately 430 square feet of open living area, the apartment is perfect for a couple or for a couple with one or two children sharing the sofa bed.

Sunlight pours into this penthouse-level apartment through the floor-to-ceiling French windows and doors. The living room is furnished with comfortable chairs and a couch that converts into a double bed. The apartment is equipped with cable TV (with English-language channels, including CNN and BBC), DVD and CD player, stereo, telephone, and aa personal computer with a high-speed internet connection (note that the system is, unfortunately,not compatible with Mac computers). Although the extensive windows let in the breezes, the apartment is also air-conditioned, ensuring comfort even during the rare Parisian heat-wave. A separate eating area looks out onto the balcony, with views across the tiled rooftops so characteristic of Paris.

The corner kitchen is conveniently located adjacent to the terrace, where guests can enjoy the incredible views while dining inside; with approximately 130 square feet of area (almost unheard of in Paris!), the private outdoor terrace is large enough for a small table and chairs, providing a perfect spot for an apertif or for dining al fresco, or for taking in the activity of the neighborhood below. There is a magnificent view of the nearby Sacré Coeur from the terrace, and an equally breathtaking view over the city of Paris from the bedroom window.

The kitchen is fully equipped, with a dishwasher, oven, range and microwave, as well as a coffee-maker, cuisinart, toaster and juicer, and a full compliment of dishes, glassware, pots, pans and utensils. There is also a washing machine and dryer in the kitchen area.

The king bed is located in a cozy alcove adjacent to the living area, and has fabulous views of Paris through the floor-to-ceiling French windows.

Located in the heart of the 18th arrondissement, Montmartre is known throughout the world as one of the most romantic spots in Paris. With its narrow winding streets, long history of famous artists, outdoor markets, cafes and eclectic shops and boutiques, Montmartre has a flavor and character unique in Paris. 


There are numerous restaurants, cafes, wine bars, food shops, supermarkets, bakeries, patisseries and specialty within a few steps of the apartment. Some of the most famous sites of the 18th arrondissment are within a short walk, including the Sacré Coeur, the Museum of Montmartre, the Moulin Rouge, the rue Lepic food and produce market, the Espace Dali, the Bateau Lavoir and the Lapin Agile. Two metro stops are conveniently located near the apartment, and provide easy access to the center of Paris.
