Le Mouffetard

Le Mouffetard is located on a side street just off the famous rue Mouffetard, in the same neighborhood where Ernest Hemingway and James Joyce once lived. On market days, rue Mouffetard is bustling with street vendors and shoppers, and at night, offers an incredible array of restaurants offering everything from Indian curries to traditional Alsatian fondues to sushi, but the quaint rue des Boulangers, where the apartment is situated, is a quiet oasis of peace and tranquility.

The apartment itself is located on the top level of a lovely five-story building. Although there is no elevator, once you are in the apartment, the loft-like atmosphere, the views, and the openness of this charming "penthouse" will convince you that it is worth a few stairs! Recently renovated with the advice of a skilled architect, Le Mouffetard seems larger than its approximately 430 square feet of area. The furnishings are a tasteful blend of comfortable contemporary pieces and quality antiques, which compliment the traditional parquet floors, the marble fireplace mantle and the expansive windows which let in plenty of light and breezes and showcase views across the neighboring gardens and treetops to the incomparable Notre Dame cathedral.

The charming salon provides a comfortable seating area (including a quality sofa bed which can accommodate a third guest), perfect for unwinding after a long day of exploring all that Paris has to offer. Modern amenities include a cable television, with access to English-language channels, a DVD and CD system, and wireless, high-speed internet access (there is also a Mac computer for guests' use if you'd like to leave your laptop at home). A cozy corner dining table for two is perfect for a light breakfast (you have earned that extra croissant by taking the stairs!) or a romantic dinner for two.

Guests will find the compact, yet well-designed kitchen, with its full compliment of quality appliances and charming tile accents, to be well-appointed and equipped...including a Miele washing machine and dryer, as well as a four-burner range, oven, dishwasher, microwave and refrigerator/freezer.

The spacious bedroom is furnished with a king-sized bed (which can be separated into two twins) and pretty antique accents. There is also plenty of closet space...not a given in Paris apartments...and more windows offering views of the Paris skyline. The bathroom is fully appointed as well, with a tub, wall-mounted shower, washbasin and toilet (as well as a quintessentially French bidet...).

In all, Le Mouffetard is a wonderful choice for guests seeking a prime location, a peaceful and very comfortable haven...and a justification for that second croissant!
