This beautiful one bedroom apartment on the very presigious rue du Bac, is located within a 19th-century building between the Seine River and the famous Boulevard Saint Germain. Directly across the street are two of the hotels the Michelin Guide calls the "finest" in the 7th arrondissement, the Pont-Royal and the Montalembert. Guests at le Bac will find themselves smugly smiling to themselves as they return to their luxurious and fully appointed apartment, while the hotel guests across the street pay two to three times as much for a single room.
The apartment is located on the fourth floor, overlooking a quiet central courtyard, and is accessed by either an elevator or by a curving stairway with its elegant brass and wrought-iron railings. The building's common areas are maintained to a high standard by the very capable and quality-conscious concierge. With approximately 520 square feet of living area, the apartment is not large, but is well designed and wonderfully cozy. The stylish decor combines comfortable furnishings with tasteful oriental accents. The floors are polished wood, the nine-foot high ceilings soaring, and the windows overlook the quiet central courtyard. Two beautiful, though non-functioning, marble fireplaces in the living room and bedroom add a touch of elegance. For travelers wishing to stay connected, the apartment provides the use of a laptop computer and high-speed internet access.
In the living area, the modern conveniences of a satellite TV, DVD player and stereo system are counterbalanced by the traditional elegance of the beautiful herringbone hardwood floors.
A fully-equipped kitchen, with all essential appliances, including a dishwasher, oven, range and washer/dryer, is located just off the intimate "table for two" dining area.
In the lovely bedroom, with its beautiful, though non-functioning marble fireplace, two single beds can be combined to create a true king bed.
The recently renovated bathroom features modern fixtures, sleek tile accents, and an American-style "stall" shower, as well as a washbasin and toile. For guests staying more than one week, weekly maid service is included at no extra cost.
Although located in the heart of St. Germain des Prés, the apartment itself is situated on a small, private cul-de-sac opening onto a quiet courtyard, and is adjacent to a beautiful building housing offices of the French government. The rue du Bac neighborhood, favored by Parisians and tourists alike, is rich with fine restaurants, upscale boutiques and charming shops and cafés.
Many of the most famous "sites" of Paris, including the Louvre and Orsay museums and the Tuileries Gardens, are within a short walk. The Musee d'Orsay, the Louvre, the Musee Rodin, the Jardin des Tuileries, and the Hotel Matignon (residence of the French Prime Minister) are all within easy walking distance, as are the numerous restaurants, shops, nightclubs and cafes of the famous 7th arrondissement. Joel Robochon's famous "starred" restaurant, L'Atelier, is just a block or so away from the apartment, and the famous Le Bon Marche department store, the Saks Fifth Avenue of Paris, is also within walking distance, as the the Grand Epercerie market, one of the most amazing (and most expensive!) food markets we've ever visited!
AS WITH MOST OF OUR PROPERTIES, NO SMOKING IS ALLOWED INSIDE THIS APARTMENT, AND PETS ARE NOT PERMITTED.
