La Verrière (P7th11)

One of the many things we love about Paris and what we think makes the City of Lights the most beautiful city in the world is the incredible diversity in architectural style among buildings within the heart of the city. From the very traditional Haussmannian architectural school, with its characteristic iron grillwork and slate rooftops, to the very modern (and in our opinion too pedestrian and therefore anonymous), and everything in between, the Paris skyline pays tribute to the evolution of building design over the centuries. Interiors are often as eclectic as exteriors, such that it is not at all unusual to find sleek chrome and glass furnishings within an apartment located in a building designated as a historic monument.

La Verrière epitomizes this blend of aesthetics. Located on the top floor of a beautiful Art Nouveau building in one of Paris' most sought-after neighborhoods, between the Avenue de la Bourdonnais and Avenue Bosquet, this stylish loft tastefully blends the best of traditional Parisian architecture with stylish yet comfortable furnishings, and modern amenities and fixtures.

The entrance lobby, with its beautiful tiled floors, is only the first hint of the style, quality and authentic Parisian flair that characterizes La Verrière. With approximately 915 square feet of living area distributed between two levels (the living areas and bedrooms are all located on the main level), twenty-foot high ceilings, expansive windows and the apartment's trademark skylight, or "verrière," this beautiful apartment is light, open and airy. An elevator provides easy access to the apartment; small balconies give guests front-row seats for viewing the daily activities of this quiet, yet centrally located Paris neighborhood.

The main level salon and dining areas are stylishly furnished with a blend of art deco, traditional antique and contemporary pieces, with bold accents and lighting fixtures. The apartment is equipped with cable television (in the salon and in the master bedroom), a CD player, and high-speed internet access, as well as air-conditioning for those summer weeks when Paris is at its warmest. Although we think the apartment is best suited for up to five guests in the two bedrooms, the sofa bed in the living room converts to provide sleeping accommodations for two additional guests, such that the maximum capacity of the apartment is seven (there is an extra charge for more than five).

The recently updated, tiled kitchen is fully equipped and out-fitted, with range, oven, microwave, dishwasher, and washing machine and dryer, as well as the small appliances, cookware and serving pieces necessary for preparing a light snack or a full meal. With the famous rue Cler street market just a few minutes away, guests may find themselves inspired to stay "at home" and cook...unless the broad selection of restaurants in the neighborhood prove too tempting.

The master bedroom features a king-sized bed, charming decorative fireplace, and an en-suite shower. As throughout the apartment, furnishings are a blend of traditional and contemporary, with bright splashes of color highlighted against neutral fabrics and linens.

The second bedroom is furnished with three comfortable twin beds, two of which can be combined to create a second king-sized bed; when left separate, the bedroom comfortably accommodates three guests.

A small office (with high-speed internet access for guests with a local ISP code) on the mezzanine level offers a quiet spot for writing postcards and enjoying the typically Parisian views through the verrière, which also gives the apartment its wonderfully open feeling.

The main level bathroom, conveniently located adjacent to the bedrooms and living areas, has been completely renovated, and features a bathtub (with wall-mountedshower), toilet and washbasin, as well as travertine marble countertops and accents. A second "stall" shower is located ensuite in the master bedroom.

The famous rue Cler market, with its shops and open-air produce, gourmet cheese and artisan bakery stalls, is a few short blocks away. The ever-present Eiffel Tower and the adjacent Parc du Champ de Mars, great for strolling, picnics or watching European football at the childhood level, are within walking distance, as are some of Paris' best cafes, boulangeries and bistros.

This is an ideal neighborhood for travelers wanting to experience the true "vie Parisienne" for a week or more.

PLEASE NOTE THAT PRICING IS BASED ON A CAPACITY OF NO MORE THAN FIVE GUESTS, AND A SUPPLEMENTAL CHARGE WILL APPLY FOR ADDITIONAL GUESTS (UP TO A TOTAL OF SEVEN).
