La Bastille

La Bastille offers guests the "complete package" of location, amenities, comfort and ambiance. The apartment is located on the fifth floor of a historic, 19th century stone building, with elevator access, and has been recently restored and renovated to incorporate modern appointments while retaining the elegant character you would expect in this upscale neighborhood.

With two well-sized bedrooms, spacious living and dining rooms and views towards the famous Canal St. Martin, La Bastille is an elegant and well-appointed apartment (comprising approximately 900 square feet of living area) in the heart of one of Paris' most sought-after neighborhoods, and offers extremely comfortable accommodations for four guests.

Gleaming hardwood floors compliment the neutral color scheme in the living and dining rooms, while three marble fireplaces, elegant chandeliers, gilt-framed mirrors and traditional wall and ceiling moldings are reminiscent of the famous Parisian salons of the 19th century. A separate, formal dining room adjacent to the living room comfortably seats four guests. High ceilings and French doors opening onto the balcony, with views toward the Canal St. Martin, ensure that the living and dining rooms are airy and filled with light.

The kitchen is well-equipped and fully appointed, with an American-size refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, oven, range and microwave.

Furnishings are a blend of antiques and modern pieces. Both bedrooms are fitted with double beds and comfortable Swedish mattresses. There is one large bathroom, with a bathtub/shower and washbasin, and a separate toilet room adjacent to the bedrooms. A washing machine and dryer is discretely located in the bathroom.

Located at the "intersection" of the Seine River and the Canal St. Martin, La Bastille enjoys a prime location in the heart of Paris' fourth arrondissement, and is within walking distance to many of Paris' most famous landmarks, including Ile de la Cité (home to Notre Dame Cathedral), the elegant Place des Voges, and, bien sûr, the site of the infamous Bastille prison.

There are restaurants, bistros and brasseries for every palate, and several large street markets offering a wide variety of produce, cheeses, meats and other "treats" sure to bring out the culinary creativity in both the experienced chef or would-be gourmet.

With the Bastille metro stop just a short stroll from the apartment, La Bastille is easily accessible to all of the sites of Paris. Guests will enjoy strolling along the Canal St. Martin or the nearby Seine River, or simply exploring the delightful neighborhood surrounding La Bastille, where lively street markets (including the Richard Lenoir market, one of the best in Paris!) are frequented by residents of the quartier which was home to the famous (or infamous?) Bastille prison which became the symbol of the French Revolution.

The Marais district of Paris' fourth arrondissement has long been favored by Parisians who appreciate its central location, expansive selection of restaurants and shops, lively street markets and "village" feel, and savvy travelers to Paris are falling in love with this area as well.

AS WITH MOST OF OUR PROPERTIES, NO SMOKING IS ALLOWED INSIDE THIS APARTMENT, AND PETS ARE NOT PERMITTED.
